Fail: Sponge Nails

Ok, girls, we have to talk. I'm sure you've heard or seen pictures of "sponge nails" or  "ombre nails" In case you haven't. I love the idea of it. Well, I went ahead and tried it...

I picked out my colors and applied my nail hardener. 

(Sally Hansen: 160 Hard- Core Party, Maybelline Color Show: 410 Impeccable Greys)

I applied my colors on the sponge...

Then, it failed. Horribly... 

 I am really disappointed that this did not work. I don't know how they do it, but it did not work for me. Here are some reasons why it didn't work. 

1. First, it's a sponge it's going to absorb liquid quickly. I couldn't keep up with applying. 
2. You need to add a lot of polish to the sponge in order to really see the color. I cherish my nail polish and don't want to waist it. 
3. It is very messy.. enough said. 

All in all, I would say this does not work for me. Have you successfully done this before? If so please comment below and tell us how you did it! Good luck.

I did my nails, again, the other day! They didn't have anything on them and I couldn't stand it. I finished up some black that I had. So I get to buy some new :D that makes me happy. 

I washed dishes shortly after and ruined them. Geez...

Friday night my 2 best gals and I went out for a drink for our friend Kalen's birthday!

I'm sure you can tell by now that Fall is my favorite season. I love everything about it, the colors, the weather, the smells. THE FASHION!

 Today is my last day wearing these, time for them to retire!

pointy nails

I think I finally found a nail kit that I'm going to like. I've been trying different ones, with no luck. start of my search I picked up this kit from Walmart last night

It was first time doing it, so they didn't turn out perfect. The kit has what a salon would have! I think I found the mother ship. Walmart has a brand "Kiss" but after some online reviews Nailene was the best one.

I did my nails and toes last night. Which makes it for a typical Thursday. Although, Parks and Rec and The Office were on, so it made it better!

Dentist/shop outing

After the weekend I had, I was happy to have a dentist appointment/shop outing with my mother yesterday. We both needed an extra day to recupe ;) 

 Capris are from Goodwill. Plaid shirt, and yellow cardigan from H&M. Ring was a gift. Owl necklace was a gift from Fossil (I think?) Red shoes from Walmart

I did my nails before the weekend too!

Did my toes this weekend! They turned out a little Spring, but they are pretty.

Good morning Mondayers! This weekend went by too quickly. Probably because I was busy/lazy all at the same time. I did however, manage to finally get my toes painted!

I'm pretty impressed on how they turned out. 

There are the colors I used + white. 

Sorry, it's hard to see. I used sparkles, hot pink, black pen, and white polish.

First step is to paint your nails half hot pink half white.

Step two is to draw your black spots

Finally, add your sparkles. I just out the sparkles where the spots are!

Voila! Pretty toes. I did it pretty quickly, but I'm ok with how they turned out.

This weekend was too short. I did however get some things done! The first fun thing I did was get ready for my cousins wedding I had Saturday. I needed to do my toes so I decided to match them with the dress I was wearing.

I also made some rings out of $1.00 wire that I found!

 I had also bought some bags from Hobby Lobby awhile ago and finally did something with one of them! I still have a bigger bag that I need to buy some stencils for.



Memorial Weekend

Hope everyone is having a good short week. I had the best Memorial Weekend! 1/3 of my family from Oregon came to visit. The weekend was full of outdoor stuff and KIDS! We got to enjoy the pool, hit the horse races, and enjoy plenty of beverages.

I did get a chance to get some things done around the apartment.

Like potting my flowers.

I needed a watering can, so I poked some holes in the milk carton and called it good

+ I spoiled myself with DQ and getting my nails done!

I miss them so much already. We cried like always when we had to say goodbye to each other. My boyfriend and I talked it over and we decided a trip to Oregon is a must this year.

the perfect thursday

Last night my grandmother, mother, and I treated ourselves and got manicures and pedicures!

We always go to the place my mother gets her acrylics done. Top Nails inside Valley West Mall. They know her by name and always give us a kind greeting. (she is chatty, so they remember her) They always do an amazing job and don't cheat you on the massage. I usually always bring my own colors, but I didn't have the color I wanted. I would have liked a more neon look, but I had to compromise. We did a little shopping for granny, which I love doing. It's fun to dress her a little less grandma. After, we treated ourselves more with a beer and potato skins at TGIF. great day

--I would also like to add that while we were getting our toes done there was a woman getting her nails done right in front of us. We are a loud family and was probably causing some eye rolls while we laughed and chatted. At one point I made eye contact with the woman and she smiled politely at me. She was mid aged I would guess. After a while I glanced at her again and I could tell she was holding back tears. Her eyes were all red and she was sniffling. Oddly, I Immediately wondered if she had lost her mother recently and seeing our 3 generation of daughters made her sad?? Or maybe the man that was doing her nails poked her?? I don't know, but it made me very thankful for those 2 crazy women sitting next to me. God is good.
